We want to keep everyone updated on what we’re doing as a district to combat COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This page will be kept up to date with the latest information regarding COVID-19 and its effect on CCAISD.
Free COVID-19 Testing
Free COVID-19 testing is being provided within the State of Texas. The tests provided through this program are mouth swab tests that do not require assistance.
As a result of school closures and remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students have been at higher risk of exposure due to adverse childhood experiences and first hand exposure to the effects of COVID-19. We also know that many educators have themselves experienced a prolonged state of stress over the course of the pandemic and share many of the concerns regarding loss of safety, health, and predictability as students upon the return to school.
Notification to Parents and Staff for COVID-19 Exposure and District Conversion to Remote Learning from 9-15-20 to 10-12-20.
If your child is in the 2nd or 3rd grade and was at school on 9-8-20 (Tuesday) or 9-11-20 (Friday), CCAISD has reason to believe that your child may have been a close contact of a person with COVID-19. No other grades have been exposed. All rooms have been sanitized.
Current public health recommendations and CCAISD’s COVID-19 Protocols found on our district website under the District Tab under the COVID-19 Tab, include self-monitoring of symptoms and exclusion from congregate settings such as school and daycare for 14 days since the last known exposure. Report any problems, symptoms, questions, or test results to the CCAISD COVID-19 Coordinator, Pam Baugh, RN at [email protected] or call 432-283-2245 Ext. 1110 during school business hours.
If you or your child experience symptoms of COVID-19 then you should seek medical attention. A negative test does not suffice to shorten the recommended quarantine period. The last known exposure for 2nd and 3rd grade children occurred on 9-11-20 (Friday)and self-monitoring and quarantine should occur through 9-25-20 (Friday).
Thank you for your assistance in following the recommendations to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19. Additional guidance may be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nov/if-you-are-sick/quarantine.html.
Concerning Remote learning, due to a 22% loss of teaching staff that is quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure and two full grade levels now quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure, the District has decided to implement the up to four week remote learning allowance granted by the Texas Department of Education. We are shifting to remote learning on 9-16-20 (Wednesday) until 10-9-20 (Friday). We will start at school learning on 10-12-20 (Monday).
At this time, any teacher not quarantined, may conduct their class instruction via Zoom and Canvas from their classrooms. All CTE students will be allowed to continue their CTE classes at school, all extra-curricular programs can practice and hold their events at school.
Remember, be safe, be healthy, and be kind to someone today.
