Wednesday, 06 January 2010 16:52
The Eagles were back in action this Tuesday Night as they traveled to Dell City to take on the Cougars. The girls picked up right where they left off and beat Dell City by a score of 52-25, as the Lady Eagles cruised to a nice victory. The Lady Eagles were lead in scoring by Sara Serrano who had a marvelous 17 points and 5 assist, with Aubry Durbin chipping in another 10 points, and Jenna Flores controlling the boards with 12 rebounds. Coach Tucker was very pleased with his girls, saying that it was a great way to start off the New Year. “I am very excited for the upcoming games and ready to start district on January 29th, I feel that we have a great chance at competing for the District title”. Quoted Coach Tucker

The Boys started off a little shaking trying to shake off some holiday rust in the first half, and went into half time only up by 1 point. But in the second half Coach Ortega let the dogs loose and put plenty of pressure on the Cougars to force some easy baskets. The Eagles never looked back after that and beat Dell City by a score of 65-54 Coach Ortega wasn’t happy with the 1st half play, but was really pleased with the way his boys played defense. “That is where championships are won on the defensive end of the court, so if we can continue to play tough defense we should be fine down the stretch” Coach Ortega, replied after the game. The Eagles were lead in scoring by Rutesh Bahkta with a monster 22 points, and Eleno Mendez who chipped in another 10 points.

The Eagles will be traveling to Balmorhea this Friday to take on the Bears at 6 for the girls and 7:30 for the boys Varsity teams.
Go Eagles!
