The Van Horn Eagles ended their regular season game with a non-conference victory over Cathedral 36-12 at Thunderbird stadium in El Paso. The Eagles scored on their 1st possession with a JJ Baca 3 yard run who finished the night with 103 rushing yards, but that score was quickly answered by a Toby Porras 80 yard kick off return for a touchdown.
The Irish were led by Daniel Sauter who gained 64 yards on 13 attempts. Baca would find the endzone two more times before halftime as the Eagles led 21-6 at intermission. The Van Horn Defense held Cathedral to 132 yards rushing and would score on a safety and a 62 yard touchdown interception by Damian Seijas in the second half.
The Eagles will now face Stanton in a rematch of last year’s bi-district game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Fort Stockton. |
